Learned how to create Marquetry
I really enjoy the details provided in the video courses.
The way Marc teaches makes me feel confident enough to try something new.
Marc's courses gave me the confidence to expand beyond beginner projects.
I love the community. Marc and Nicole are great. Fast responses for just about question.
The step-by-step course, broken into segments, was a great way to move through the course.
This made cabinet making easy, and efficient. Both learning how and why a technique works.
Frank Strazza was the reason why I signed up. Excellent instruction and great reference material.
I like the perks of the Guild. The videos maker it so much easier to follow along than just plans.
The detailed step-by-step videos made me feel like I was building right alongside Marc and the other instructors.
Great advice from a serious professional. My confidence with making bowl cuts has already improved substantially.
I have never experienced this level of detail from any other woodworking course I have taken. The lessons were great!
The courses include instruction to new techniques that I have not experienced yet, giving me a great opportunity to further my skills.
Honestly it’s the joking around and poking fun at each other and of course Marc and Matt… when is Shannon doing something for the guild?
The guild gives me opportunities to work on projects that are designed by individual woodworkers that I would not normally be exposed to.
I enjoy the guild meetings a lot when I can attend. Opportunities to ask questions is terrific and get feedback from other participants.
I love that the guild has a variety of courses. Any aspiring or seasoned woodworker is sure to learn something new. The teachers are top notch!
I’m building the under-saw storage system. I’m mostly enjoying watching some else’s approach to the project and really like the design of this piece.
The detailed step by step videos were a nice change from the Youtube videos I was used to. The increased level of detail was satisfying to watch and learn from.
The community that the Guild has created is second to none, the Facebook group, Wednesday watch alongs and guild meetings are all great events and invaluable resources.
Marc is really good at explaining things in a clear and concise manner. It's the next best thing as being in person. I can't wait to pick out the next Guild project! Jim
I’ve found the guild to be a great resource for information, inspiration and friendship. I have enjoying building several guild projects from the knowledgable instructors.
My favorite so far is the Morley lounge chair. I feel like it combined every skill I had learned up to this point into one project. I really like these advanced courses.
Marc Spagnoulo is an excellent teacher. His courses are outlined meticulously and if followed appropriately will result in a beautiful project for anyone with moderate skills.
Before joining the guild I would have wondered how to make the Cross-Cross table. Learned more than how to build the table though, lots of skills and processes worth learning in the courses.
The guild provides a closer experience of fellow woodworker than other online communities. Guildies help each other and many worked on similar projects which leads to more consistent assistance.
Was a great experience. Marc and Nicole were very hospitable and welcoming. Marc was able to answer all my questions and stayed a late as was needed. Im definitely looking forward to the next class.
In addition to the project being built, each course contains tips, tricks, and advice that applies to our craft as a whole. I appreciate that I learn more than building one project from TWW courses.
I have used Sketchup forever, but it was not until I took the Introduction to Sketchup course did I feel confident. It helped me gained the skills to quickly get things done instead of stumbling through it.
The courses provide the right level of detail that include points that are very important such as how to get the right cut or the right glue up. Marc’s Learning while doing approach allows me to get things done.
I love the way Marc teaches, and how he has made complex things more approachable for me. To see how something complex gets broken down into simpler steps helped to demystify the process as I went, and the project is nearing completion!
When family or friends ask me to make something I’ll always check the guild first to see if there is any styles or videos that intrigue me. Green and green has been my new style and people seem to love the extra detail. ie. ebony plugs or proud joints.
I’ve taken many of the courses, but my favorite was the jewelry box. Marc goes into deep detail on its design and construction, which allowed me to build it myself as my first ever “real” woodworking project. It brought my mom to tears when I gave it to her.
As always Mark is able to package high end material and skills into a easy to understand format so that you can grasp concepts, skills, and an understanding. All of his material does so in a way that allows anyone from newbie to expert level gain something.
Marc and Nicole have built a great learning community for woodworkers with helpful step-by-step video courses, the ability to ask questions of Marc and other friendly folks, and a huge library of free online videos. An island of sanity in the sea of online crap.
The instruction is top-level. Its easy to follow and understand, regardless of who the instructor is. Taking these courses has given me a deeper understanding of the processes involved in woodworking, and now I have more confidence to design my own projects as well.
Just completed The Wood Whisperer's Miter Station Guild Project, great build! Plans were extremely well-written, easy to follow, and the end result is a rock-solid, adjustable station that really makes my shop more efficient. Highly recommend if you want to step up your workflow!
Taking Frank Strazza's "Fundamentals In Hand Tool Woodworking" has been a real eye opener for me. It is my first venture into building "real" furniture. I have learned that it is okay to just do it and try something new! I'm looking forward to completing this project and moving on to the next!
With the guild courses I have gained exposure to other techniques that I have not been in the past. Those in include the Philip Morley tambour door and also the Brian Benham Greene and Green entry door. Although I have been a Sketchup user for many years Brian's courses has added to my skills.
So far I have built about a half dozen guild courses but the game changer for me was the hybrid workbench. I did not have a workbench for the first 6/7 years of working with wood. After building it I gained a level of precision and efficiency that I struggled with prior. Thanks for the encouragement.
I decided it was time to update the cabinets and miter saw station in my shop. This course was a great step by step method and really helped. I’ve made many cabinets but this method was quick and easy for a shop. I was able to refine and learn new skills. Lots of great ideas in this course well worth it.
The Guild is a great place to learn or advance your woodworking skills. Courses provide plenty of detail and may even give you ideas when creating your own personal projects. Best part of all is the ability to slowly go over each part of the video at your own pace since you can view it as much as you want.
Marc is an excellent teacher. His guild course is thorough, but not to the point of being tedious. He sweats the details and shares not just *what* he thinks, but *how* and *why*. Understanding his thought process helps you make informed decisions on your own. And, of course, his brand of humour is, well, damned funny!
I appreciate how the courses don’t just teach you how to build a thing, but also give tips and lessons that can be applied in other projects. For example, in the barrister bookcase build, Marc gave a great tip about removing gaps in panel glue-ups if your jointer isn’t exactly 90 degrees. Tips like that are scattered all throughout the courses.
I’ve been woodworking for about three years but didn’t have the confidence to try traditional mortise and tenon joiner before I took this course. Marc demystified the process with clear step-by-step guidance.. He’s a great teacher and provides lots of helpful tips and tricks. I have a beautiful piece of furniture and have gown my confidence and my skill set. Highly recommend!!
Enjoy the videos related to new projects, tool reviews/comparisons, and when possible the live events. Don't always get to join the live events but will normally follow-up and view the recorded events. Would recommend anyone that is either starting out or has been in the game for a while to go and watch the videos or buy the projects as they would definitely learn from the projects/events.
Many online projects either move too quickly or don't provide enough detail. But Guild projects are aimed at weekend warriors like me as well as seasoned pros. I like that the video lessons are broken up into meaningful chunks rather than one long video, that they're available to watch on any device (even when i'm huddled over a power tool I can rewatch an important segment), and that they show how to avoid and fix mistakes.
